Good Morning Dr. …,
Attached is a fax I received from “name of my medical school” this morning. This fax indicates that “name of my medical school” charges $5 to verify your medical degree. Unfortunately, we are unable to pay additional fees for verifications; therefore, please print off the attached verification material and send it to “name of my medical school”, along with the $5 fee. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you! “name of the credentialing officer at my future employer’s” 🙂
But you know what? I’m going to print out that attachment, grab my checkbook, and issue that check because I need a job!
Yep we doctors know how to complain and whine but keep bending over for more of the same.
I don't know how I stumbled onto your blog one day, but I'm Bethany, from the German Stammtisch in Boston. Congratulations on finishing your residency. Hopefully that means we'll see you sometime. Sunday there's a going away party for one of our group members at our house and you're welcome to join in and enjoy some farewell wishes.
It sounds like licensure for doctors is even worse than for teachers. Getting licensed by state is annoying, expensive, and I have to take content tests every time I move. Tell me, shouldn't a teacher in every state know about the same history if they're going to teach history? How is yet ANOTHER $100 test going to prove that I'm capable of working in Massachusetts? And then how many different licenses should I have to get? If I tallied up the cost of licensure so far I come up with $1200 (That's a lot of money for a teacher). AND now I'm expected to get ANOTHER master's degree (that'll be around $15,000 if I go the cheap route). SO frustrating. If the schools/doctors offices want all this stuff why don't THEY pay for it?
I agree. if they want all that credentialling they should pay for it. I already know that i've paid the necessary fees (tuition, time, exams), to be qualified; why do I have to pay to show you the proof?!
hope all's well with you!
